Because
I didn’t fight most of the abuse when I was growing up in it, I
believed that I had given up my right to fight it as an adult. I
believed that my childhood silence was ‘consent’. The truth is that as a
child I had no choice; disclosure would have made it worse and
silence/compliance was survival. As an adult I have a choice. Talking
