Alot on my mind ~ plans for this summer's vacation ~ where we'll go etc........ thinking as to what to take for prerequisites this summer ~ have to take prereqs of Chemistry (somehow never managed to take that), lots of Math (my background in Algebra is that I'm truly brand new to the experience of Algebra).... I tested out on the placement tests as over 100% for English and College Reading and Arithmetic @ 85% .... Algebra a dismal 35%. I daydreamed in high school way back in the 60s while taking Algebra and Geometry.
Thoughts on New Mexico...... I want to see alot more of this state. I want to spend some time in Albuquerque and Santa Fe ....the museums. Why couldn't Clovis have been closer to Albuquerque? There are some times when I'm ready to leave here. I get tired of the rural mindsets and inavailability of what I need and want. People are both friendly but somewhat distant. I do love sitting in the backyard with my husband and watching the sun go down; I love hearing the train late at night; I like the friendliness of shopkeepers around town. What keeps me ambivalent is that I had the worse working experience of my life here as well as having who I thought was a good friend after four years of friendship; tell me that I didn't fit in with her church group friends. Uh well, I was a very active proponent for Barack Obama. It wasn't a real fit ever between she and I; (our main link was addictive shopping) ; unlike my other good friends.
I told Greg the other night that if I were to pick up and move my friendships from Sierra Vista & Anchorage to here then I think I'd be happy as a clam... needs met for kinship. I have a feeling of loneliness sometimes.
The great thing about being in New Mexico (and not Alaska) is at least I'm in the contiguous United States! In Alaska, if it was winter in Anchorage; it was winter everywhere ! Here, beauty isn't too far away ~ down the road and a state of mind.
I am excited about going back to school and changing my occupation to medical (either Rad Tech or RN). I love school. I will say that in the courses I have had at the local college; I was very impressed with the teachers. I have had alot of schools to compare it to ~ University of Alaska at Anchorage, Cochise College in Arizona; and in another incarnation (60s), University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma Baptist University, University of Central Oklahoma....
As a devourer of books, my favorite hangout is Hastings.... coffee breve, or a green tea latte; and start looking at books ~ I'll spend more time and money on books than anything else. Though of late, my budget for books, etc. is fairly low. Hey, it's an exciting day when our claim checks come back from Tricare. You would have thought we had won the lottery. When I think about the money I made and spent in Alaska, I just sigh.
