You have to have a license to drive a car. You have to have a city license (in some cities) to have a pet. You have to have a license to start a small business. In almost all responsibilities that we have as a society, one has to have a license. However, any person on the planet regardless of their emotional make-up can have a child. They are free to emotionally and even physically damage the child that is a dependent in their care. I believe that some mothers and fathers are ambivalent about fulfilling the responsibilities of taking on the life-long job of parenthood. Some parents have expectations of the child to make their own dreams come true; so that the child will never know who they are and what they would like to do in life.
I have met people in my 60 years on the planet, that have been sufficiently compromised in their ability to be all they can be. There are parentified children in which the child has been utilized to be the parent of the parent. I met a woman who told me how she criticized her adopted children on-going. I ask myself how any adoption agency could have given these dependent children to this crazy woman.
There should be a license to have children. It's a huge responsibility and not everyone is up for the job. Even sadly, most people have children when they're young and have no idea the job they are in for. There should be a psychological testing in order to get such a license. I believe that this would take away some if not all of the ills of society.... but it would inhibit some of the tragedies we read about in the newspapers such as: domestic violence, serial killing, gangs, drug-using, child abuse, alcoholism, personality disorders .... you name it.
Taking from another blog, "the right to life" has struck again in Kansas. I am for a woman's choice to do what is right for her. If a woman does not want to have a child and finds herself pregnant, she shouldn't have to keep it. Having an unwanted child creates lots of problems for the parent and most definitely for the child.
