Genealogy - Peering Into the Past and a Discovery of Patterns

I have added genealogy to my list of fun and interesting things to do along with jewelry-making and 11 semester hours of medical prereqs.  Attending a genealogy meeting is always interesting and enlightening.  One of the members said that after doing all the research over time, one day she discovered that she had two aunts in her past (not sure what lineage or generation) that were mid-wifes.  The discovery was that she realized that her daughters were mid-wives.  The patterns most interesting.  True life is stranger than fiction.

I look for patterns in my own waking life and they show up in a real interesting way.  I have a friend who met her husband in St Louis, Missouri.  One night while they were over playing cards, since I knew she liked antiques....  Of the many antiques I have, I chose to show her was an old booklet of Colorado mountain towns that was to be exhibited at the 1910 World's Fair in St Louis, Missouri.  I didn't really 'consciously' choose to pick this particular item.  Just interesting coincidences.  Of the wonders of life, patterns play out which I believe some match us to family members that went before and goodness only knows what else is revealed when we look.
