The below was created to be a choker as well as a long necklace. I used a combination of turquoise from Arizona mines as well as some sterling and other metals. It looks quite pretty together with the earrings that I made from same turquoise as well as enhanced denim lapis. I like working with 10mm beads and buy most of my materials from eBay and Beadaholique. I taught a workshop at a senior center and am involved with the co-creation of a jewelry making hobbyist group. I love working with blues specifically. I picked up this hobby about two years ago and at first, I will say that I really dropped lots of things but slowly the hobby has evolved to the point where I am kind of branching out and trying new things. Eventually, I'd like to take a few jewelry making classes at our local CC college.
I am a member of an extension club and everytime I win a prize (and thereby need to donate a prize), I make jewelry. So most folks are pretty pleased when that happens hopefully. I enjoy seeing the look on their faces when they open their prize box.
To the left here is a pearl necklace with drop earrings that I made for an Extension Club prize (to be given out in the next week). These beads are freshwater pearls which I love. The pearls are kind of an iridescent gray with a green sheen to them. Unfortunately my picture is out of focus.
